UVa Men's Golfers In Fifth Place After 36 Holes at NCAA East Regional

New Haven, CT – The 19th ranked Virginia men’s golf team is in fifth place after two rounds of play at the NCAA East Regional in New Haven, Conn. The Cavaliers shot 3-over 283 Friday at The Course at Yale for a two-day total
of 5-over 565. The final round of the 54-hole tournament is set for Saturday. The top five teams will advance to the NCAA Championships.
 
Texas and Kent State are tied for first place in the 14-team field at 5-under 555. Penn State is third at 560 and UCLA is fourth at 563. Three teams, East Tennessee State, UNC Wilmington and Charlotte are one shot behind the Cavaliers.
 
Will Collins leads the Virginia players with a 36-hole total of even par 140. He is in 14th place after shooting 1-over 71 Friday. Henry Smart led the Cavaliers during the second round with a 2-under 68, the best single-round of his career. He moved up to 19th overall at 1-over 141. Kyle Stough is also tied for 19th place after shooting 70 Friday.
 
Amory Davis and Ben Kohles both carded scores of 4-over 74 during the second round. Davis is in 34th place at 143 and Kohles is 55th at 147.
 
East Tennessee State’s Rhys Enoch leads the field at 7-under 133. Penn State’s Kevin Foley is in second place at 134.
 
The Cavaliers will tee off starting at 7:50 a.m. during the final round of play from the first hole. UVa will be paired with UCLA and UNC Wilmington. Live scoring of the tournament is online at Golfstat.com
