CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - University of Virginia golfer James Driscoll was named to the first-team All-State golf team in voting by the head coaches at Virginia's nine NCAA Division I schools. Teammate Mike Mitchell was named to the second team.

Driscoll, a rising senior from Chestnut Hill, Mass., led Virginia in stroke average for the third year in a row this season, with an average of 73.36. He had four top-10 finishes during the season and now has 16 top-10 finishes for his career. He has been named first-team All-State all three years.

Mitchell, a rising junior from Chevy Chase, Md., finished second on the team with a 74.19 stroke average and was named second-team All-State. He turned in an outstanding spring campaign, finishing just behind Driscoll for spring average. Mitchell highlighted his season by finishing tied for second at the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., as Virginia claimed the team title.

Joining Driscoll on the first team are Donny Lee and Reg Millage from Virginia Commonwealth, Michael Hospodar from Old Dominion and Ken Macdonald from Richmond. Richmond's Nat Withers was named coach of the year.

Faber Jamerson from James Madison, Brian Hill of Radford, Richmond's Chad Moseley and Troy Thorne from Old Dominion join Mitchell on the second team.
