Stough Finishes Fifth at Maryland Open

Virginia sophomore men's golfer Kyle Stough finished fifth at 2007 Maryland Open played at Chartwell Golf and Country Club July 9-11. The tournament is run by the Maryland State Golf Association.

Stough completed the three-day, 54-hole event at 2-under 211. He had rounds of 75, 66 and 70 to finish eight shots behind the tournament champion. He tied as the highest amateur finisher at the event.

Earlier this year Stough won the stroke play portion of the 40th Annual Maryland Amateur at Mount Pleasant Golf Course. He had scores of 72, 70 and 70 and won a tie-breaker to take top honors.

As a freshman in 2006-07, Stough played in nine events for the Cavaliers. He finished the season with a 76.11 stroke average and recorded a pair of top-10 finishes.
