Kochevar Qualifies for U.S. Amateur Championship

Blaine, Minn. - Virginia sophomore men's golfer Kyle Kochevar (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) qualified for the 2013 U.S. Amateur Championship Friday (July 12) at a sectional qualifying tournament held at Victory Links Golf Course in in Blaine, Minn.

Kochevar tied for second in the field at 1-over 143. He had rounds of 71 and 72 to finish one shot behind the tournament medalist.

The 2013 U.S. Amateur Championship will take place Aug. 12-18 at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass.

Entries to the U.S. Amateur Championship are open to amateur golfers with an up-to-date men's Handicap Index not exceeding 2.4 under the USGA Handicap System.

Last season Kochevar played in two events for the Cavaliers. His best finish was a 36th-place showing at the season-opening Northern Open.
