KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Virginia golf team, led by senior Cameron Yancey (Blackstone, Va.), is in first place after the first day of the Coca-Cola Tennessee Tournament of Champions. The 14 teams in the tournament played 36 holes on Monday (Sept. 18). The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday (Sept. 19).

Virginia leads the team competition with a 13 under par total of 563 and Louisiana State University is second with a 564 total. The University of Tennessee is third at 568.

Yancey leads the individual competition with an eight under par total of 136 after rounds of 67 and 69 on the par 72 Holston Hills Country Club course. UVa junior Steve Marino (Fairfax, Va.) is tied for eighth with a three under par 141 total after rounds of 72 and 69.

Oliver Wilson (70-67) of Augusta State and Alan Morgan (70-67) of Louisiana State are tied for second place in the individual competition with seven under par totals of 137.

Other players competing in the tournament for Virginia are Justin Goodhue (143, 71-72), Mike Mitchell (143, 73-70), Shep Nowlin (152, 77-75) and Rusty Kennedy (154, 77-77).
