Carlin Leads UVa for Second Straight Tournament

Jonesborough, TN The Virginia men’s golf team shot 5-over 293 Sunday to finish 14th at the Bank of Tennessee at The Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn. The Cavaliers finished the 54-hole event with a score of 878. North Carolina and Virginia Tech tied for first at 852 and the Hokies were declared the tournament champion based on the tie-breaker of comparing the fifth-place finisher for each team.

For the second straight time this fall senior Greg Carlin led Virginia by shooting 1-over 217 to finish 29th overall. Carlin shot 1-under 71 Sunday after posting back-to-back 73s during the first two days of play.

Freshman Henry Smart was 44th at 220 including a 73 during the final round. Steven Rojas, playing in his first college tournament, was 51st at 221. Freshman Will Collins was 63rd at 224 and Conrad Von Borsig was 68th at 225.

Tennessee’s Chris Paisley held on to win medalist honors. He finished at 10-under 206 including an even par 72 in the final round.

The Cavaliers are off until Oct. 26-28 when they complete the fall portion of the schedule at The Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.
