UVa Men's Golfers Finish 13th at U.S. Collegiate

Alpharetta, GA - The 13th-ranked Virginia men's golf team finished 13th at the U.S. Collegiate Championships held at The Golf Club of Georgia. The Cavaliers shot 307 Tuesday for a three-day total of 907.

UCLA won the tournament at 852 while Washington and Auburn tied for second at 855. The 14-team field included 11 teams ranked in the top 30 of the current Golfstat rankings.

Freshman Denny McCarthy posted the Cavaliers' best finish, shooting 6-over 224 to place 49th. Bruce Woodall was 59th at 226 while freshman Ji Soo Park was 63rd at 228. Park's 74 was the Cavaliers' best final round score. Mac McLaughlin was 73rd at 237. Senior Ben Kohles withdrew from the final round due to a sore back.

Auburn's Dominic Bozzelli and Texas A&M's Johannes Veerman tied for first place at 6-under 210.

The Cavaliers wrap up the fall portion of their schedule Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 when they travel to San Martin, Calif., to compete in The Gifford Collegiate at CordeValle.
