Johnson City, TN The Virginia men’s golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule with a 10th-place finish at The Bank of Tennessee at The Ridges tournament. The Cavaliers shot 8-over 296 during Sunday’s final round for a three-day total of 889. The Cavaliers finished ahead of three teams ranked in Golfstat’s top-50 including No. 30 Auburn (894) , No. 49 Vanderbilt (896) and No. 23 Ohio State (898).

Coastal Carolina won the event by one shot at 869 while host East Tennessee State was second at 870.

Freshman Ben Kohles led the Cavaliers with an 18th-place finish at 4-over 220, including a 1-under 71 during the final round. The tournament marked the third time in four fall events the first-year player has led UVa or tied for first in scoring.

Will Collins shot 75 during the final round and dropped back to 25th at 221. Amory Davis was 37th at 224 and Kyle Stough was 52nd at 229. Like Collins, both Davis and Stough shot 75 during the final round. Conrad Von Borsig was 71st overall at 238.

NC State’s Darren Blair used rounds of 71, 69 and 70 to finish first by five shots at 210.

The Cavaliers open their spring season March 2-3 in Pensacola, Fla. at the Argonaut Invitational.
