Stanger Named ACC Men’s Golfer of the Month

Nov. 9, 2016

Greensboro, N.C. - Virginia senior Jimmy Stanger has been named the ACC Men’s Golfer of the Month for October.

Stanger led the Cavaliers to back-to-back wins in October as they climbed to No. 3 in the Golfstat rankings. At the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, he shot a career-low 10-under 206 to finish tied for fifth, while Virginia posted a tournament scoring record of 35-under 829 in the victory.

The senior from Tampa, Florida, then tied for first in a strong field at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, shooting a 9-under 207. On his final hole, he sunk a five-foot birdie putt to move the Cavaliers into a tie for the team title. The win was his second individual medalist honor of his career.

Stanger posted a scoring average of 68.83 in six rounds during the month and is currently ranked No. 2 in the Golfstat rankings.
