Virginia, Maryland go Scoreless in Acc Opener

COLLEGE PARK, Ma. -- The Maryland Terrapins and the Virginia Cavaliers men's soccer squads both went scoreless in their Atlantic Coast Conference opener as the the two rivals played to a 0-0 draw in front of a record crowd of 3,723 at Maryland's Ludwig Field Saturday night.

Both teams had 13 shots on goal for the game. Ben Olsen led the way for the Cavs with five and Pierre Venditti led the Terps with four.

The Terps had many opportunities in the second half of regulation, outshooting the Cavs 6-2. Their best chance came in final minute of regulation as Maryland's R.T. Moore took a corner kick from Keith Beach and punched it in for the apparent go-ahead goal, but the official called a hand-ball violation on Moore to negate the score.
