Ownby Named ACC Co-Player of the Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Brian Ownby (Sr., Glen Allen, Va.) has been named the ACC Co-Player of the Week following his big game vs. NC State last Thursday. Ownby shares the distinction this week with North Carolina defender Matt Hedges. This marks the first career ACC Player of the Week honor for Ownby.

Ownby also was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week and the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week following his big outing.

Ownby recorded a goal and added a pair of assists as the Cavaliers rolled to a 4-1 victory over the Wolfpack to clinch home-field advantage in the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament.

Ownby got UVa on the board quickly with a goal in the seventh minute, then assisted on back-to-back goals during a dominating UVa first half.

He is the second UVa player to earn the honor this year, joining Will Bates (10/11).
