CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Three members of the Virginia men's soccer team have been named to the 2013 All-ACC Team, which was announced Thursday (Nov. 14) by the conference. Eric Bird (Jr., Virginia Beach, Va.) and Darius Madison (So., Philadelphia, Pa.) were voted onto the second team by the league's coaches, while freshman Jordan Allen (Rochester, N.Y.) was tabbed on the third team and the All-ACC Freshman Team. It marks the first career All-ACC Team honor for each player.

Bird leads the Cavaliers with six goals and 15 points this season. He is tied for eighth in the conference in goals and 10th in points. The team captain also is tied for second on the squad with three assists. Bird has played in all 18 games, while starting each of the last 17 at attacking midfielder. He owns game-winning goals against Providence and VCU and also scored the game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation at Virginia Tech.

Madison owns five goals as well as a pair of assists for 12 points at forward this year. He is second on the team in goals and points. Madison was named the College Soccer News National Player of the Week as well as the ACC Player of the Week on Oct. 28 following his first career multi-goal game, a two-goal performance in the Cavaliers' 2-0 win at then-No. 2 Notre Dame. He also recorded a goal and an assist in UVa's win over George Mason on Sept. 17.

Allen is the first UVa freshman to earn all-conference honors since Will Bates claimed second-team honors in 2009. The midfielder has scored a pair of goals and added a team-high five assists this year, ranking ninth in the conference in assists. He recorded the game-winning goal on Sept. 28 at Syracuse and also scored in the Cavaliers' win over St. John's.

Ranked 10th nationally by Soccer America and 12th by the NSCAA, Virginia (10-4-4) competes in the semifinals of the 2013 ACC Championship at 5:30 p.m. Friday, taking on top-ranked Notre Dame. The game will be broadcast online by ESPN3.
