Singh played for the Cavaliers from 2007-11, helping to lead the Cavaliers to four consecutive ITA National Team Indoor titles. The two-time singles All-American was the first Virginia player to earn the ITA/Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award. Singh was ranked as high as No. 1 in the ITA singles rankings, reaching that pinnacle as a junior where he also reached the NCAA Singles Championship semifinals. In the same year, Singh, playing alongside Somdev Devvarman, advanced to the semifinals of the ATP Chennai Open. Singh and Devvarman also won the gold medal in doubles at the 2010 Asian games as well as picking up a bronze in the team event. Prior to his arrival in Charlottesville, he was a successful junior tennis player ranking as high as No. 4 in the ITF junior rankings and played in all four junior grand slams.
After graduating from UVA, Singh played professionally, winning seven Futures singles titles and four doubles titles in Challengers. His career high ATP ranking came in 2015 at No. 266. Singh also made three consecutive appearances at the Davis Cup, playing singles for India from 2012 to 2014.
In addition to playing professional tennis, Singh also worked as a deputy superintendent of police in Haryana in northern India.
