UVA Men's Tennis Team Advances to NCAA Region II Finals
Cavaliers beat VCU 4-2 in semifinals.

RICHMOND, Va.--The third-seeded University of Virginia men's tennis team defeated second-seeded Virginia Commonweatlh University (VCU) 4-2 at VCU's Thalhimer Tennis Center on Saturday (May 16) to advance to the championship match of the NCAA Region II Tournament.
The Cavaliers will meet top-seeded South Carolina for the tournament championship on Sunday (May 17) at 1:00 p.m. South Carolina advanced to the championship match with a 4-1 victory over North Carolina on Saturday.
Virginia's Brian Vahaly defeated VCU's Daniel Andersson 3-6, 7-6, 7-5 in the deciding match in the #1 singles competition. Other singles winners for the Cavaliers were John Winter (#5) and Tommy Croker (#6).
UVa also won the doubles point with Huntley Montgomery and Vahaly winning the #1 doubles competition, and Croker and Winter winning the #3 doubles competition.
Virginia defeated Florida State 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Friday (May 14).
The Cavaliers are now 18-7 on the season.
