CHARLOTTESVILLE - The Virginia men's tennis team had one singles flight champion during the final day of the UVa Fall Classic. Mitchell Polnet (Churchville, Pa.) captured the Red Singles title as finals were played indoors at the Boar's Head Sports Club.

Polnet, the No. 2 seed in his draw, topped top-seeded Ben Guthrie of William & Mary 6-2, 6-2. It is the first title of Polnet's career.

Virginia had two other players in flight finals on Sunday. Julen Uriguen (Guatemala City, Guatemala) fell in the Orange Singles final, as Robin Lesage of Binghamton rallied for a 0-6, 6-2, 10-7 win. Jonathan Cornish (London, England) lost in the Gold Singles final 6-3, 6-2 to Shea Thomas of Liberty.

The Cavaliers will return to action in two weeks as they host the ITA Atlantic Regional. The tournament will run Oct. 18-22 at the Snyder Tennis Center.
