BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia men's tennis team completed play at the ITA Atlantic Regional during Monday's play at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. The Cavaliers, who began the tournament with eight players, had their final three players eliminated on Monday.

Sophomore Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.), the tournament's No. 3 seed, opened the day with a 6-1, 6-4 quarterfinal victory over 17-32 seed Joao Monteiro of Virginia Tech. In his second match of the day, Shane suffered a 6-4, 6-3 loss to fifth-seeded Alexis Heugas of VCU. Heugas had upset sophomore Mac Styslinger (Brimingham, Ala.), the No. 1 seed, 5-7, 7-5, 7-5, in the quarterfinals.

First-year Jordan Daigle (Lafayette, La.), a 17-32 seed, was edged in the quarterfinals by sixth-seeded Carlos Lopez Villa of Old Dominion, 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(6).

The Cavaliers will return to action this weekend as individuals will compete in the qualifying draw of the Charlottesville Challenger, which begins Saturday at the Boar's Head Sports Club.
