CHARLOTTEVILLE, Va. - The top-ranked Virginia men's tennis team (4-0, 1-0 ACC) takes on No. 17 Illinois (4-2, 1-0 Big Ten) on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar's Head Sports Club.

Admission is free for all Virginia home tennis matches. In celebration of Valentine's Day, there will be free heart-shaped Domino's pizza served up in the lobby after the doubles point.

Live scoring and streaming video will be available through a link on VirginiaSports.com.

The defending national champions opened the home slate on Saturday (Feb. 11) with a 5-2 victory over No. 6 Florida. The Cavaliers won the doubles point and then picked up four-straight victories at two, three, four and six singles. Three of Virginia's four matches this season have been against SEC opponents.

Freshman Carl Soderlund (Stockholm, Sweden), the top player in this year's ITA National Freshman/Newcomer rankings, has begun his collegiate career with four singles victories, including topping Florida's No. 60 Elliott Orkin 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 on Saturday.

Junior Henrik Wiersholm (Kirkland, Wash.) also improved to 4-0 on Saturday with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Maxx Lipman at No. 6.

Illinois has already played three ACC teams in dual matches this season, downing Duke (4-3) and Notre Dame (5-2), but falling to North Carolina (5-2). The Illini also played against Georgia Tech at the Georgia Tech Invitational to open the 2017 spring campaign.

Aron Hiltzik is the top-ranked Illini at No. 21. Aleks Vukic is ranked No. 31.

Last season, the Illini picked up a 4-3 victory over Virginia in Urbana. Virginia won the doubles point and J.C. Aragone (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and Wiersholm picked up straight-set wins at four and five singles, but Illinois battled for three-set victories at No. 2, 3 and 6, with Collin Altamirano (Sacramento, Calif.) falling in straight sets at No. 1 against Jared Hiltzek.

Virginia leads the all-time series against Illinois 10-3 and has won eight of the last nine meetings, including a 4-0 victory in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.

Up next, Virginia will be hosting the ITA National Team Indoor championship, a tournament UVA has won five of the last nine years, at the Boar's Head Sports Club from Feb. 17-20. The event features 16 teams: the 15 schools who won both of their matches during the ITA Kick-Off Weekend and the host school. The tournament is held over four days, and begins on Friday with first-round play, followed by quarterfinals on Saturday, semifinals on Sunday and the championship match on Monday.
