Five Alumni in Action on Tour This Week

DUBAI, U.A.E - Five Virginia alumni are in action this week on the professional tennis tours. Three are competing in ATP events as Somdev Devvarman (Class of 2008) is at the Dubai Duty Free Championships and Treat Huey (Class of 2008) and Dominic Inglot (Class of 2009) are teaming up at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco. In addition, Sanam Singh (Class of 2011) is at a Challenger Tour event in Sydney, Australia and Ted Angelinos (Class of 2008) is at a Futures Tour event in Colombia.

Devvarman won his opening round match in Dubai on Monday, topping Igor Kunitsyn 6-1, 6-4. He will play world No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina in the second round. ESPN3.com has live coverage of the tournament.

Singh opened play in Sydney with a 7-6(5), 6-3 win over top-seeded Yuichi Sugita of Japan.

Huey and Inglot start play later this week in Acapulco against the top-seeded team of Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares.
