Virginia is ranked No. 4 in this week's Oracle/ITA Division I Collegiate Rankings after falling at No. 1 Wake Forest, 5-2, on Friday night and sweeping Clemson 7-0 on Sunday. The Cavaliers have downed four of the six ACC opponents they have faced this season by a 7-0 score.
Junior Henrik Wiersholm (Kirkland, Wash.) improved to 12-0 in singles with a pair of wins last weekend, including toppling Wake's Christian Seraphim 7-6 (5), 6-3. Wiersholm moved back into the singles rankings, coming in at No. 79. Senior Luca Corinteli (Alexandria, Va.) also had a strong showing last weekend, picking up a pair of wins at No. 6 singles, including downing Wake's Alan Gadjiev 6-3, 6-0.
In doubles, seniors Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Charlotte, N.C.) and Alexander Ritschard (Zurich, Switzerland) are a perfect 12-0 this season, including an 8-0 mark at No. 2. The Cavaliers are 39-9 overall in doubles this season, including a 10-3 mark against ACC opponents.
Virginia Tech also split last weekend, downing Clemson 6-1 before falling 5-2 at No. 35 Louisville. Jai Corbett is the Hokies' highest-ranked player at No. 103.
