CHARLOTTESVILLE - Four members of the Virginia men's tennis team were named to the All-ACC Men's Tennis Team, conference officials announced Thursday. The ACC Champion Cavaliers led all schools with four players on the 19-player squad as Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.), Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.), Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) and Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) were honored.
Jenkins earned All-ACC honors for the fourth consecutive season, becoming the sixth Cavalier to be a four-time All-ACC selection. The No. 3 seed in this year's NCAA Singles Championship and the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Doubles Championship with Styslinger, Jenkins went 34-4 this season in singles and 19-7 in doubles.
Domijan was selected to the All-ACC team for the third consecutive year. He is the No. 2 seed in this year's NCAA Singles Championship, the highest seeding for an ACC player. This season he is 33-4 in singles and a 36-6 record in doubles, including an 18-2 record with Frank, who he will compete with in the NCAA Doubles Championship.
Frank was named All-ACC for the second time in his career. After missing the fall due to injury, he posted a 20-1 singles record this spring and was selected for the NCAA Singles Championship. He was also selected to compete in the NCAA Doubles Championship with Domijan.
Styslinger was one four freshmen named to the All-ACC squad. He posted a 26-7 singles record during his rookie season to earn a spot in the NCAA Singles Championship. He and Jenkins are the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Doubles Championship.
For the first time since 2007, the Cavaliers didn't have any of the ACC Men's Tennis Award winners. Duke's Henrique Cunha was named ACC Player of the Year, Virginia Tech's Amerigo Contini was named ACC Freshman of the Year and Wake Forest's Tony Bresky was named ACC Coach of the Year.
Virginia, the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Team Championship, opens play May 10-11 as it hosts first and second round action at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers (24-0) meet Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round on May 10 at 1 p.m., with VCU and Minnesota also competing in the Charlottesville Regional.
