Mitchell Frank

July 17, 2012

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Virginia rising sophomore Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.) won his second main draw match of the summer on the ATP Challenger Tour on Tuesday, defeating Bjorn Fratangelo 6-3, 7-6(4) in the first round of the Levene Gouldin & Thompson Tennis Challenger. Frank, who reached the main draw in Binghamton after advancing through qualifying, also won a round at the Winnetka Challenger last month.

Frank will play either the top seed, world No. 115 Dudi Sela of Israel, or former Tennessee All-American Rhyne Williams in the second round.

In addition to Frank, former Cavalier Drew Courtney (Class of 2012) is playing doubles at the Binghamton Challenger.

At the Futures Tour event in Joplin, Mo., incoming first-year Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) won his first round match over Jordan Szabo of Australia, 6-4, 6-2. The top seed in that event is former Cavalier Sanam Singh (Class of 2011).
