WASHINGTON, D.C. - Six former and current members of the Virginia men's tennis program will compete at the 2014 Citi Open, an ATP 500 level event at the FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park in Washington. Four players will be in action Saturday as qualifying play begins.
Rising junior Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.) joins three alumni, Michael Shabaz (Class of 2011), Sanam Singh (Class of 2011) and Justin Shane (Class of 2014) in the 24-player qualifying draw. Play begins Saturday at 10 a.m. with tickets available for $10.
Players in the qualifying draw need to win two matches this weekend to advance to the 48-player main draw.
Virginia alumni Treat Huey (Class of 2008) and Dominic Inglot (Class of 2009) will be in the 16-team doubles draw. The duo won the 2012 Citi Open title, their first of three ATP titles as a pair.
