Frank and Jenkins in Citi Open Qualifying

WASHINGTON - Two members of the Virginia men's tennis team will play in the qualifying draw of the Citi Open in Washington. Rising senior Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) and rising sophomore Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.) will compete at the ATP Tour 500 level tournament, which begins Saturday at the FitzGerald Tennis Center. Main draw play begins at the tournament on Monday and the finals are slated for August 5.

The qualifying draw will be announced Friday night with play beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Players in qualifying need to win two matches to reach the main draw.

It is the second consecutive year that both Jenkins and Frank are competing in qualifying at the tournament, which had been known as the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in recent years. Last year both players lost in three sets in the first round to opponents ranked in the world top 250.
