Carl Soderlund Competing at Player's Choice Open

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Virginia men's tennis player sophomore Carl Soderlund (Stockholm, Sweden) competed in the singles main draw at the Player's Choice Open, a USTA Futures Tournament being help Oct. 30 through Nov. 5 in Birmingham, Ala.

Söderlund faced the tournament's No. 2 seed, Matias Zukas of Argentina, in a first-round match on Tuesday, falling 6-2, 6-0.

Söderlund has two career Futures titles, winning the 2016 Rising Star Tour Futures Tournament in Karlskrona, Sweden and the 2015 Collector Norwegian Open. Zukas is currently ranked No. 492 in the world and also has won two singles titles, most recently in 2015 in Argentina.
