Volunteer Assistant Coach

Former Cavalier All-American Derek Valenti is in his first year as UVa's volunteer assistant coach.

Valenti earned All-America honors in 2011 after an eighth-place finish at 149 pounds at the NCAA Championships.

He was a three-time NCAA qualifier, as he reached the NCAA Championships at 141 in 2010 and 149 in 2011 and 2013.

Valenti also was the 2011 and 2013 ACC runner-up at 149 pounds.

Valenti tied for ninth in career wins at Virginia with 95and also finished fifth in career dual wins at Virginia with 52. He wrestled in 140 career matches, which was ninth in the program annals.
