CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - University of Virginia wrestler Scott Moore (Franklin, Pa./Franklin Academy) has been selected to compete in the 38th Annual National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic. Moore, ranked #2 in the nation at 141-pounds, will face off against #1 ranked Teyon Ware of Oklahoma on Monday, February 2nd at 8:00 PM at the UNI Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa. The event is being presented by the United States Marine Corps.

Moore's record is currently a perfect 27-0 overall including a 3-0 mark in dual match action with 19 of his 27 victories wins coming by fall. He has taken first place in all five invitationals/tournaments that he has competed in this season. Moore won the Michigan State Open, Cornell's Body Bar Invitational, the Mat Town USA Invitational, the Collegiate Beast of the East and UNC Greensboro's Southern Scuffle. He has already shattered the UVa school record for most pins in a single season with his 19 falls (the former school record was 11) and is currently sixth all-time for most falls in a career at UVa just midway through one season.

Moore is just the second wrestler ever from UVa to be selected to compete in the NWCA All-Star Classic. On February 7, 2000, Virginia's 125-pounder Steve Garland was selected to compete in the event. Garland was UVa's seventh and most recent All-American.

The results of this event will not count toward seeding for the NCAA Championships and will not be listed on the individual's season record form. The event does not count as a competition date for participating wrestlers.

The purpose of the NWCA All-Star Classic is to showcase the sport of wrestling by pairing the top-ranked collegiate wrestlers in a dual meet format. It is also an avenue to generate significant revenue to support important NWCA initiatives and to present the sport of wrestling's heroes and champions to each host community throughout the country.
