CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. - - - The Virginia wrestling team opens up Atlantic Coast Conference action this weekend when the Cavaliers wrestle at North Carolina (4-6-, 1-1 ACC) Friday and against Virginia Tech Sunday in the Comcast Commonwealth Challenge. Virginia takes on North Carolina at Carmichael Auditorium at 7 p.m. The Hokies (5-6, 0-1 ACC) and Cavaliers will wrestle at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Christopher's School in Richmond.
Virginia enters this weekend 4-5 overall in dual meets. The Cavaliers are coming off a 20-15 home win over UNC Greensboro.
Sophomore Eric Albright leads the Cavaliers having compiled a 23-6 record this season. He is ranked 12th nationally at 133 pounds. Redshirt sophomore Rocco Caponi is 25-6 at 184 pounds. He ranks 18th nationally.
UNC junior Drew Forshey is the reigning ACC Wrestler of the Week and sports a 13-7 mark at 125 pounds.
Steve Ratley leads the Hokies. Ratley is 21-11 at 174 pounds, while Steve Borja is 18-6 at 184 pounds.
After this weekend's action, the Cavaliers will travel to wrestle at Ohio and against Ashland next weekend. Ohio will host both teams in a tri-meet.
