- The No. 21 Virginia wrestling team wraps up the regular season Sunday with a pair of duals at Memorial Gymnasium. The Cavaliers will wrestle No. 23 Old Dominion at 2 p.m. and finish the day with a 4 p.m. dual against George Mason.
Prior to the ODU match, Virginia will conduct Senior Day ceremonies. Four Cavaliers and their families will be honored - Shawn Harris (Cleveland, Ohio), Sam MacGregor (Fredericksburg, Va.), Ryan Malo (Georgetown, Mass.) and Nick Nelson (Pittsburgh, Pa.).
Admission to both matches is free of charge. Free parking is available in the Culbreath Road Garage.
Virginia (9-1) has won seven-consecutive dual matches following a 29-12 win over Southern Conference champion Appalachian State last Saturday in Boone, N.C. The Cavaliers claimed victories in seven of 10 weight classes in a dominating team win over the Mountaineers.
UVa scored bonus points in four of its wins, highlighted by a Vinny Waldhauser (Fr., El Dorado Hills, Calif.) pin of Jesse Johnson at 174 pounds. UVa also racked up a technical fall and two major decisions. Virginia was missing three of its ranked starters, who sat out with injuries.
The Cavaliers have a season-high six wrestlers in the InterMat individual rankings this week, as Gus Sako (So., Cleveland, Ohio) made his first career appearance in the 149-pound standings with a No. 20 ranking.
