CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The Virginia wrestling team begins the postseason on Saturday, competing at the ACC Championships hosted by North Carolina at Carmichael Arena. Wrestling begins at 11 a.m.
Virginia will be seeking its sixth ACC Championship in program history, the third most among current members of the conference, while 10 individuals will be wrestling for individual championships and to lock up a berth in the NCAA Championships.
All bouts of the Championship will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, which is available online and through the WatchESPN App. Shawn Kenney and Dean Linke are handling the play-by-play, with former Virginia All-American Tim Foley joining Rock Harrison in providing expert analysis. During the preliminary rounds the action will be streamed live from both mats, moving to one mat for the finals on Saturday evening. Links for broadcast are available at VirginiaSports.com.

Tickets are priced $10 for adults and free for youth 18 and under. ACC students with valid IDs are also admitted free.

AUTOMATIC NCAA BIDS ON THE LINE
The championships serve as the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championships. The ACC has been allotted 34 automatic qualifiers; the breakdown by weight class: 125: 2, 133: 5, 141: 3, 149: 4, 157: 3, 165: 2, 174: 4, 184: 3, 197: 3, 285: 5. To earn the automatic qualifier, each wrestler must finish a certain place or higher at the conference championships (e.g., place in top two at 125 pounds).
ATKINSON LOOKS FOR FOURTH NCAA BID -- KRIVUS AND MUELLER LOOK TO RETURN
Senior Andrew Atkinson will be competing to become a four-time NCAA qualifier and only the 10th four-time qualifier in Virginia history. He qualified in the three previous years at 157 pounds before moving up to 165 pounds this season. Sam Krivus and Jack Mueller both look to make a return trip to the NCAAs after earning their first bids last year. Mueller advanced to the semifinals at 125 pounds a year ago.
VIRGINIA IN THE ACC CHAMPIONSHIPS
UVA has won five ACC Championships - 1974, 1975, 1977, 2010 and 2015. Virginia finished second at the 2012 and 2013 ACC Championships. The Cavaliers have won the ACC Championship or finished within 10 points of the champion in six of the last 10 years. Virginia has also finished in the top 3 in 8 of the last 10 ACC Championships.
