NCAA Recognizes Three Virginia Teams For APR Scores

Men's Golf, Women's Golf and Wrestling Honored for Academic Success

June 5, 2013

Charlottesville, Va. - The NCAA has honored three of Virginia's intercollegiate athletics teams with public recognition awards for their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. The teams recognized are men's golf, women's golf and wrestling.

The teams earned the awards by posting multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all teams in their respective sports. The NCAA honored more than 950 Division I teams for the achievement.

The public recognition awards are part of the NCAA's academic performance program. The 976 teams recognized by the NCAA this year represent 268 of the 346 Division I colleges and universities.

The APR provides a real-time view of a team's academic success by tracking the progress of each student-athlete during the school year. By measuring eligibility and retention each semester or quarter, the APR provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.

The list of teams recognized this year includes 594 women's teams and 382 men's or mixed squads.

Full APR scores for all Division I sports teams will be released later this spring.
