CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia wrestling team travels to face No. 11 Michigan on Friday at 7 p.m. in the first of two dual meets with nationally-ranked foes this weekend.

The Cavaliers enter the match coming off a solid opening weekend at the Clarion Open. Virginia had four wrestlers grab championships at their respective weight classes, while 14 of 21 wrestlers competing placed in the event. 

Freshman Jack Mueller (Dallas, Texas), redshirt freshman Sam Krivus (Greensburg, Pa.), redshirt sophomore Chance McClure (Commerce, Ga.) and redshirt junior Andrew Atkinson (Lynchburg, Va.) all claimed championships in the opening tournament. Redshirt senior George DiCamillo (Highland Heights, Ohio) won his opening match at the NWCA All-Star Classic, defeating No. 15 Brock Zacherl of Clarion in his bout.

Last Time Out vs. Michigan
The Cavaliers and Wolverines last met in the Virginia Duals in the 2009-10 season. Virginia and Michigan met twice in the two-day event with the Cavaliers picking up wins in both outings. Virginia won the first dual 23-10 before picking up the second dual 19-13.

All-Time Series vs. Michigan:
Virginia is 2-1 all-time vs. the Wolverines, having picked up wins in the last two meetings for a two-match win streak. Michigan won the first meeting between the two teams, defeating Virginia 25-10 in the 2007-08 season. The two squads met again with the two matches in the 2009-10 season. The teams have not met in the last six seasons.

Up Next for the Cavaliers:
Virginia will continue to wrestle on the road, staying in Michigan for its second dual meet of the season. The Cavaliers will face No. 18 Central Michigan at 1 p.m. on Sunday before returning home for the first home meet of the season on Sunday, Nov. 20.
