CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Virginia wrestling team begins competition at one of the most prestigious tournaments outside of the NCAA Championships at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Friday (Dec. 1).

Wrestling at the two-day event begins at 12 p.m. ET with 10 wrestlers representing the Cavaliers in competition - one at each weight class. Redshirt freshman Louie Hayes (Orland Park, Ill.) is seeded seventh at 125 pounds, while sophomore Jack Mueller (Dallas, Texas) is seeded fourth at 133 pounds.

Fans can follow the action with live stats and a subscription based video stream provided by FloWrestling and linked at VirginiaSports.com. Updates will also come throughout the day from the program's official Twitter account @UVAWrestling.

CAVALIERS IN THE RANKINGS
The Cavaliers have a trio of wrestlers in the national rankings heading into the third week of competition according to InterMat Wrestling. Redshirt freshman Louie Hayes (Orland Park, Ill.) is ranked No. 15 at 125 pounds, while sophomore and returning All-American Jack Mueller (Dallas, Texas) is No. 7 at 133 pounds. Redshirt junior Will Schany (Blair, Neb.) rounds out the ranked wrestlers for UVA, coming in at No. 18 at 174 pounds.

LAST TIME AT THE CLIFF KEEN INVITATIONAL
The trip to the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational marks the first for the Cavaliers since the 2015-16 season. Virginia did not compete at last year's event. In that last outing in 2015, a pair of wrestlers placed for the Cavaliers with Atkinson placing fourth at 157 pounds, while George DiCamillo placed third at 133 pounds. That season, DiCamillo finished behind the defending NCAA Champion Cody Brewer and eventual NCAA Champion Nahshon Garrett.

UP NEXT FOR THE HOOS
The Cavaliers will return to action in a dual meet on Sunday, Dec. 7, at Bloomsburg. The dual meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
