Time Change For Women's Basketball Season Opener

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The women's basketball season opener versus William and Mary on Sunday, Nov. 16 in University Hall will begin at 3:30 p.m. instead of the previously scheduled 2:00 p.m. tip-off time. Athletic department officials wanted to avoid a conflict with a possible NCAA Tournament game with Virginia's number one ranked field hockey team on Nov. 16, should the team be awarded a home contest. The pairings and sites for the NCAA Field Hockey Tournament will be announced on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

The basketball Cavaliers open the season ranked 13th in the first AP poll of the season. This is the first time since the 1993-94 season that Virginia has opened the season at home. Tickets are available for the women's basketball season opener versus William and Mary.
