Tim Taylor Named Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

Tim Taylor enters his fifth season on the Cavalier staff. In 2004, Taylor was promoted to recruiting coordinator. He was the lead recruiter for the 2004 class that was rated 10th in the nation by Blue Star Index and 15th by the All-Star Girls' Report.

He joined the Virginia women's basketball staff prior to the 2000-01 season after working two years at Furman University. He was primarily responsible for the Paladin post players. He coached two All-Southern Conference post players, including two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year Jackie Smith. The Paladins finished second in the Southern Conference during the 1999-2000 regular season and won the conference championship to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The native of Madison, Va., was the head coach for girls basketball and softball at Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, Va., from 1995-98. At Woodbridge, Taylor developed four post players that went on to receiver Division I scholarships and led the Vikings to three straight regional appearances.

Taylor began his coaching career as the assistant boys' and girls' basketball coach at Madison County High School. He is a 1989 graduate of James Madison University with a degree in political science.

Taylor is married to the former Tonya Daughtry, and the couple has a daughter, Jordan (6) and two sons, Dalton (4) and Jackson (six months). The family resides in Madison.
