Post Game Quotes vs Virginia Tech

Feb. 16, 2014

Head Coach Dennis Wolff

On UVa's post play:
"We weren't fronting the post like we should have and then they were tougher than us on the glass. Give them credit, but we have to try and correct that. ""

On Sarah Imovbioh:
"She's a big strong girl and we were just laying on our backs when she was one foot from the basket. All she was doing was making layups. We were trying to get the girls to front her but they weren't doing that, they just layed on her back and she was able to push them under the basket all night."

On what hurt VT down the stretch:
"We missed foul shots. That's one thing. We can't have empty possessions and that's what we had. We were missing foul shots and giving them second chances. You can't do that and expect to win games. Unfortunately those have been our Achilles heel all year."

On Kelsey Conyers:
"In my entire coaching career, I haven't been around a more mature person than Kelsey Conyers in any way. I can put her in the game and she will know every spot and she's a very competitive girl. I felt like we needed to improve pour toughness a little and handle the ball better and sheimproved our defense and made some plays on offense. Kelsey may be a walk-on but she never carries herself remotely like that."

On Virginia Tech's struggles:
"I think whats happened in a lot of ways is like groundhog day. In this game we had good stretches of basketball and then we negate it by not playing long enough, breaking down defensively or missing foul shots or whatever. Again, we know what the record is As I've said before all we're trying to do is win the next game. Yes we're frustrated, but we don't want to wallow in it. We'll talk about getting ourselves organized in the right way to play Pitt."

Freshman Guard Vanessa Panousis

On missing Monet Tellier:
"Obviously it's going to be hard without Monet but players need to step up and fill her role. It's not just her not playing, it's our responsibility to step up as well."

On Virginia Tech's slow start:
"I think it was both us and their defense. I think we weren't concentrating enough, maybe a little scared, and got out playing on our front foot and that allowed them so,e simple turnovers."
