Lexie Gerson Named to the ACC All-Defensive Team

Lexie Gerson earned her second ACC All-Defensive Team honor

March 10, 2014

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Virginia women's basketball team's redshirt senior guard Lexie Gerson (Fort Washington, Pa.) was named to the five-member 2013-14 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Team, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.

After sitting out the 2012-13 season recovering from hip surgery, Gerson returned to the court for her delayed senior season, averaging 2.6 steals per game, which ranked 25th in the nation and second in the ACC. Gerson helped lead the Cavaliers post a +4.7 turnover margin, ranking 22nd in the country and the second-best mark in the ACC. Gerson finished her Cavalier career ranked fifth on the Virginia career steals list with 257.

Gerson was also named to the ACC All-Defensive team in her junior season when she finished the 2011-12 season with 113 steals, averaging 3.1 per game.

The ACC All-Defensive team is determined by a vote of the conference's head coaches.
