The Virginia women's basketball team was listed among teams receiving votes in the preseason Associated Press poll. The USA Today Coaches' poll's preseason rankings should be released next week.
Virginia returns preseason All-ACC honoree Ataira Franklin and point guard China Crosby, who missed all but 12 games last season after suffering a knee injury. In addition to their core of six experienced veterans who all played significant minutes for a team that finished 2011-12 with 25 win, the Cavaliers add five new faces this season including transfer Sarah Beth Barnette and freshman guard Faith Randolph.
The Cavaliers open their season on Friday, Nov. 9 when they host James Madison at 7 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena. Single game tickets are now onsale online at VirginiaSports.com.
