Virginia's Lindsay O'Bannon scored to tie the game against Central Michigan at the 24:26 mark of the contest, but it was the Chippewas (2-2) who were able to capitalize first in the extra session to take the victory 2-1. The Cavaliers had the advantage in both short corners (8-4) and shots (15-10), but CMU scored on its only shot of the extra time to regain the lead.

In the first half, the Chippewas scored on a short corner as Cortney Blanchard connected on a goal off assists from Kim Ferris and Alicia Balanesi. Five minutes later, Virginia attacked up the left side of the pitch and Erin Hayes shot the ball, but Mia Link was able to tip the ball around the Chippewas' keeper to the right side of the cage, and O'Bannon was there at the wide post to send the ball into an empty net to tie the game at 24:26. The teams entered the break tied at 1-1. In the second half, the Cavalier defense did not allow the Chippewas a short corner and allowed only three shots.

Virginia returns to action tomorrow (Sep 11) as they play the host Wildcats at 1:00 CST.
