FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Cavaliers extended their shutout streak to five full halves while scoring five goals in today's game to defeat the Elis 5-0 in Fairfield, Conn. Virginia held Yale to five shots on the game and only two corners, both of which came in the second half. On the offensive end, USA team member Jessica Coleman (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) connected on two consecutive corners and added an assist on a third corner to help the Cavs take a 3-0 lead into the break.

Coleman's two corner goals, which came at the 24:04 and 13:14 marks respectively, were both assisted by Carrie Goodloe (St. Louis, Mo./John Burroughs) and Laura Lindsay (Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Academy). Lindsay's two assists move her to third-place all-time in Cavalier history with 37 career assists while Goodloe's two assists move her to third-place all-time for assists as a sophomore with 12.

Coleman added an assist on a corner play with 6:35 to play in the half as she passed the ball to Lorraine Vizzuso (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex), who converted the score, giving the Cavaliers a 3-0 lead at the break. Coleman's assist gives her 36 points on the season, which ranks third all-time for points as a sophomore. Coleman has also recorded the game-winning goal or assist in eight of the Cavaliers' nine wins this season.

In the second half, Goodloe stole the ball at the top of the circle and poked it in to give Virginia a 4-0 lead with 23:56 to play. Virginia's Cara Unterkofler (Centreville, Va./Centreville) scored her first career collegiate points as she converted a scramble in front of the cage with less than a minute to play, giving the Hoos a 5-0 win.

Becky Worthington (Fairview Village, Pa./Methacton) made three saves while notching her fifth shutout of the season.

The Cavaliers will welcome the Dukes of James Madison on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 7:00 pm. JMU is ranked 10th in the latest poll.
