Video Highlights

The Cavalier defense allowed Radford (3-11) only three shots, all coming in the second half, and Emily White (Finskburg, Va./Westminster) was up to the task, turning them all away as the Hoos (10-4) won by a score of 3-0. Three different Cavaliers scored in the contest as the offense generated 22 shots and seven corners, but Radford's keeper made 14 saves and two players registered saves on the line to keep the goal count down.

Virginia jumped on the board in the first half as Juli Bojanic (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) tackled the ball away and got the ball to Katie Slocum (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area), who forced a corner. A Radford foul in the course of the corner put Virginia back on the mark, and Slocum converted a loose ball off a scramble from a rebound, giving the Hoos a 1-0 lead 9:52 into the contest. The teams entered the break with the Cavaliers holding a 1-0 lead despite outshooting the Highlanders 13-0 and forcing six corners while allowing none.

Ten minutes into the second half Jessie Coleman (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) scooped up a loose ball at the 40 and took it to the top of the circle where she fired a shot to the upper left corner of the cage, giving the Cavaliers a 2-0 margin with 23:37 to play.

The Hoos went up 3-0 as Slocum forced another corner with just over eight minutes to play. Katie Jo Gerfen's (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) shot was saved by the Radford keeper, but Kiersten Van Hooser (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) knocked in the rebound and the Cavaliers led 3-0 with 8:06 to go.

Emily White recorded the shutout as she saved all three Radford shots in the second half, helping Virginia improve to 10-4 on the season.

The Cavaliers travel to Winston Salem, N.C. to face the third-ranked Demon Deacons on Sunday, Oct. 21. Game time at Wake Forest is 1:00 pm.
