CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--The Virginia field hockey team fell 8-1 today to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Winston-Salem. Wake, ranked #6, scored four goals in each half to propel them to the victory.

The Cavaliers' Katie Slocum (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) scored the lone goal for the Cavaliers in this afternoon's contest with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. She was assisted on the goal by Meredith Elwell (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown).

Virginia returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 24 as they take on the Mountaineers of Appalachian State. The game will be played at Wake Forest's Kentner Stadium at 1:00 pm. Virginia returns home for the last regular-season game against #10 Duke at 1:00 on Oct. 31.
