"I am extremely excited to welcome Shawn Hindy to the Virginia staff," Madison said. "Shawn brings an vast array of coaching and playing experiences to field. He was a tough competitor as a player and will thrive on the competitiveness in the ACC, which is the premier conference in America. He will manage the defensive unit and provide overall technical development. He has coached at the high school, club, DI, and national level, which I think truly demonstrates his dedication and broad perspective on the sport."
Hindy was a three-time USFHA Field Hockey Player of the Year while playing for the United States Men's National Field Hockey Team from 1995-2007. He served as captain from 2001-04 and has played in more than 60 international matches for the United States including participating in the 1999 Pan American Games and the 2000 Americas Cup.
