WINNIPEG, Canada -- Former Cavalier great Michelle Vizzuso (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) started in today's field hockey match in the opener at the Pan American Games for the United States team. The United States, one of the favorites in the competition, defeated Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 to open at the top of the pool for the week.

The USA's Kelli James and Kate Barber scored five minutes apart in the first half to take the 2-0 lead it would not relinquish. Co-favorites Argentina and Canada also battled, with the Argentines taking a 3-1 victory to tie them with the USA at 1-0.

The Stars and Stripes will face Canada on Tuesday, July 27 before facing the Argentine team on Thursday, July 29.
