University of Virginia graduate Jessica Coleman, a member of the USA Senior Women's National Field Hockey team, and the rest of her USA teammates have advanced to the medal round of the 2003 Pan American games following a 3-0 defeat of Canada. The Americans finished pool play with a perfect 3-0 record and will face Chile in the crossover round on Sunday, August 10 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The United States did not allow a goal in the three games they have played in the 2003 tournament, the only team to go through the round robin portion of the tournament unscored upon.

The other half of the medal round bracket features defending champion Argentina playing Uruguay, who finished just behind the USA in pool play.

The winner of the Pan American Games earns the continental berth to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
