The No. 8 Virginia Cavaliers (1-1) will take on in-state rival Old Dominion (0-2) this Sunday, Sept. 2, in Norfolk in a key regional contest that pits two of the oldest teams in the area against each other. Sunday's game is the 40th in the series between the two, a series that goes back to 1976.

Old Dominion holds a 31-8 record in the series after last year's 3-2 victory over the Cavaliers. Both teams were selected to the NCAA Championships where the Cavaliers advanced to the quarterfinals while the Lady Monarchs fell in the first round.

Virginia defeated Richmond at home on Thursday by a count of 4-3 as Traci Ragukas scored her second and third goals of the season in only her second game thus far. The win evened UVa's record at 1-1; both Virginia and ODU have fallen to Penn State in 2007 by a score of 3-1. Old Dominion played Maryland on Friday, August 31 and fell to the Terps 4-1 at Foreman Field.

The game is a homecoming of sorts for a number of Cavaliers; Katherine Bounds, Kaitlyn Hiltz, and Haley Carpenter all hail from the Tidewater area. Game time is 1 p.m. at Foreman Field on the ODU campus in Norfolk.
