CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--The University of Virginia's Julia Richardson (Atlanta, GA/Stone Ridge (MD)) was named the ACC Player of the Week for her efforts against Massachusetts and Quinnipiac this weekend. The Cavalier sweeper, starting in her first career games, was instrumental in Virginia's two victories in the 1999 campaign thus far.

Richardson marshalled a defense that allowed only one goal on the weekend to make them the top scoring defense in the conference.

This is the first such honor for Richardson and the first time a Cavalier has been honored in the 1999-2000 campaign.

Virginia hosts a pair of games this weekend as the Michigan Wolverines come to town on Friday, Sept. 10 with a game at 4:00. The Cavaliers play Towson on Sunday, Sept. 12. Game time against the Tigers is 1:00 pm.
