The University of Virginia field hockey team has been ranked tenth in the first STX/NFHCA poll of the 2004 campaign, as released by the organization today. The Cavaliers (5-1) are fresh off a pair of wins over 2003 conference champions Boston College and Quinnipiac and as a team are ranked in scoring offense and margin of victory. In addition, Mia Link and Allison Flynn are both ranked nationally in individual scoring stats while Katherine Blair ranks in goalie statistics.

Virginia ranks eighth in scoring offense at 3.83 goals per game and 16th in scoring margin at 1.59. The Cavaliers have scored four goals in each of their last two games.

Katherine Blair, one half of Virginia's tandem of goal keepers, ranks 19th in goals against average with a 1.532 gaa.

Mia Link, who ranks second all-time at Virginia in points in a single game with 10, ranks eighth in total points with 19 and points per game (3.167). Teammate Allison Flynn is 14th and 15th respectively with 15 points and 2.5 ppg. The duo also rank in the top-20 nationally in goals and goals per game.
