The USA Junior National Team was stunned by Australia with a goal at 69:28, sending the Aussies to the win and setting up a must-win situation for the Americans in the final game of pool play against Spain on Wednesday (Sep 21). The Aussies drew a short corner in the final minute of play and although the initial shot was blocked out front, Australia pounced on the rebound and sent it into the cage with seconds remaining in the game, scoring the only goal of the game and giving Australia the win.

The USA has dropped to third in pool play behind The Netherlands and Spain, two teams that tied 1-1 earlier today (Sep 20). The USA will take on Spain, needing a win to advance, sending an American hockey team into the semifinals of a major tournament for the first time since 1994 (World Cup in Dublin, Ireland).

Virginia's Mia Link and Katherine Blair both started in the contest against Australia.
