CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The No. 4 Virginia field hockey team (14-3, 5-1 ACC) finishes out the regular season by playing at Old Dominion (7-8, 4-2 Big East) on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.

Virginia dropped one spot this week in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches poll, coming in at No. 4. Virginia has been ranked in the top-10 all season and has been in the top five since Sept. 11.
The Cavaliers are second in the nation in points per game (13.41), goals per game (4.82), assists per game (3.76) and scoring margin (+3.47) while continuing to pace all other Division I teams in penalty corners per game (9.88).
Senior midfielder Tara Vittese (Cherry Hill, N.J.) ranks second in the nation in points per game (3.53) and goals per game (1.35). She is tied for seventh in assists per game (0.82) with fellow Cavalier senior midfielder Nadine de Koning (Laren, Netherlands). Vittese comes into the weekend with 191 career points, vying to become the third Cavalier and the eighth player in ACC history to reach 200 career points.
Virginia is coming off its seventh shutout victory of the season after downing the regular season MAC Champions, Miami (Ohio), 4-0 last Sunday in Oxford, Ohio. The Cavaliers outshot the RedHawks, 30-5, including taking all 16 shots in the first half. Four different Cavaliers scored for UVA, including junior midfielder Greta Ell (Plains, Pa.), who scored her second game-winner of the season. Ell ranks sixth in the ACC in goals per game (0.59) and is also in the top-10 in points per game with 1.18. Old Dominion will close out Big East action at Providence on Friday afternoon before returning home to host the Cavaliers. As a team, the Monarchs are averaging 2.4 goals per game. Individually, Erin Huffman leads the team in scoring with 21 points on 10 goals with an assist, while Danielle Grega ranks second with 15 points on five goals and five assists. The Monarchs lead the all-time series 35-16.
The postseason begins next week at the 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, which will be held Nov. 2-5 in Louisville. The Cavaliers are the top seed in the tournament and will begin play with a semifinal match on Friday, Nov. 3 at 12 p.m. against either Wake Forest or North Carolina. The ACC Championship match is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. All of the games of the tournament will be broadcast live on the ACC Regional Sports Networks.
