CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Virginia field hockey players Inge Kaars Sijpesteijn and Paige Selenski were selected to the 17-member all-Atlantic Coast Conference team, announced Wednesday by the league office. It marks the first time since the 1999 season that Virginia has placed more than one student-athlete on the all-conference squad.

Kaars Sijpesteijn, a senior from Wassenaar, Netherlands, received her third consecutive all-conference honor. She has eight goals and four assists in 19 games this season, including two game-winners. Selenski, a freshman from Shavertown, Pa., leads the Cavaliers with 16 goals, including five game-winners. She also has seven assists for a team-best 39 points.

For the second straight year Maryland’s Katie O’Donnell was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year, while teammate Susie Rowe was tabbed the Defensive Player of the year. Wake Forest mentor Jennifer Averill was voted the conference’s Coach of the Year.

The 13th-ranked Cavaliers (12-7, 2-3 ACC) earned the No. 4 seed and will play fifth-seeded Duke (14-4, 2-3) in the first round of the ACC Tournament that begins Thursday in Durham, N.C. First and second round games of the event will be shown live on ACC Select, while the championship will be a tape-delay broadcast on RSN.
